When Swami Vivekananda first met Ramakrishna Paramahamsa, his very first question was, “Have you seen God?” Such was the intensity of his longing. There was a burning urgency within him. He wanted the truth now, not someday in the future.
The universe, and indeed life itself, has two dimensions. One is matter, and the other is consciousness (conscious energy). Both exist on different planes and produce different outcomes.
A fool is one who goes on trusting; a fool is one who goes on trusting against all his experience. You deceive him, and he trusts you; and you deceive him again, and he trusts you; and you deceive him again, and he trusts you. Then you will say that he is a fool, he does not learn.

There is no significant difference between self-respect and pride. There is a difference between the ego and self-respect or pride. Self-respect and pride are simply natural to your individuality. They are your dignity. They are your acceptance of yourself.
